Careers

Software Developer
Full Stack, Ember.js & Ruby on Rails
New York City or Remote within U.S.

KBB Partners is looking for a capable and enthusiastic full stack developer to join our small team.

Your Role

You’ll be the first dedicated, full-time developer at KBB Partners. Your role will be to take over our current technology platform and make it better. We’ll look to you to provide a beautiful and functional experience for your users, and to help us design a sensible data model on the backend.

Familiarity with modern Javascript and frontend frameworks, especially Ember.js, are the most important technical qualifications. You’ll be inheriting a modern Ember/Rails codebase that tries to follow best practices and isn’t saddled with much technical debt. Experience with Rails or similar backend technologies/frameworks is helpful, but not a strict prerequisite.

This position is perfect for someone who wants a lot of creative freedom and breathing room to design and build a beautiful and useful product. You’ll be supported by our CTO, who has been working with excellent outside contractors on the current codebase.

Your Users

Your primary users will be very capable, attentive, and appreciative teams of internal users who are on the front lines of our business. Their job is to turn our treasure trove of data and domain knowledge into actionable advice for our clients. Your job will be to provide them with a technology platform that makes their work better and more enjoyable.

Your users will also include top executives at some of the world’s most elite investment banks and professional services firms. These CEOs, CFOs, and COOs rely on our team and our platform to make key decisions about their businesses.

You’ll have the opportunity to work closely with your end users and engage them in your design process. Over time, we’ll work with you to extend the application’s reach to larger audiences. You’ll have a voice in planning and executing those ambitious goals.

Our Workplace & Culture

We work hard solving unique and complex problems for our clients, but we also value family, friends, sanity, and a healthy balance of work and life. You can work out of our beautiful midtown Manhattan offices, or you can work remotely within any location in the United States, as you prefer. You'll report directly to our CTO, who works from Japan and New York intermittently, so you’ll need to be comfortable coordinating and communicating asynchronously online with some (reasonable) allowance for time zone differences. If you're outside the U.S. and you're interested, please reach out. We may have legal constraints that prevent us from hiring abroad, but we're willing to investigate further.
